Today I thought I'd blog a little bit about the real meaning of Saint Patrick's Day. As a catholic, I feel that many people overlook the real meaning of religious/ holy days. Now I now St. Patrick's Day isn't celebrated like any other religious holiday, but I would like to inform everyone on the real meaning.
Saint Patrick was the patron saint and national apostle of Ireland who is credited with bringing christianity to Ireland. The holiday is now associated with everything Irish and the color green, but actually it was created to as a traditional day for spiritual renewal and a prayer offering.
In Ireland today is a big day. Most places are closed and there is a mass to celebrate. Around the USA there are parades and large celebrations. We typically forget the real meaning of today. So don't forget to say a prayer and offer it to someone else!
Tonight I'm actually going to a St. Patricks Day celebration at a buddy of mines. It's going to be a great time and I can't wait to see my friends.
This past week I have been on Spring Break and have had a little time off of school, which has been really nice. I got to go home Sunday and stay until Tuesday morning. Tuesday morning my sister loaded up two of her cows and she dropped me off at my apt on her way to South Dakota to take them to a genetics facility. This weekend there's a bull riding finals here in my college town. It should be a good time and fun to watch some bulls and see whats out there. I've been alone at my apartment, but starting tonight I will have bull riders staying with me. This is always interesting and fun. I know of atleast four of my boys staying with me, but that number could easily go up! I love weekends with my boys. I've been around bulls and bull riding my whole life. I've known most of these boys for as long as I can remember, and this has made me one of the boys. I am such a guys girl. We have the best time talking bulls and hanging out.
So here's to a wonderful weekend!!
Hope everyone has fun and be safe!!
